Managing our construction projects begins in the bid process. In this initial step, Icon West carries out the following items:

We also take significant measures to analyze the constructibility of the project by addressing clarification and information requests with the owner and design team.

• Analyzes the administrative and technical requirements of the project
• Prepares a construction work plan and schedule
• Communicates with subcontractors to solicit at least three quotes per trade
• Prepares a management team that is best suited to execute construction and deliver the project on time and within budget
• Subcontractors for a project are chosen based on both experience and lowest bid value and not solely on the lowest dollar amount.

• Once awarded a public work contract, Icon West immediately puts the construction team to work.Each project has a team is comprised of one or more:
  • Project Manager
  • Superintendent
  • Senior Project Engineer
  • Project Engineer Level 2
  • Safety Manager
  • Q/C Manager
  • Entry-level Project Engineers
  • Head Office Support Staff

  This team is always supported by a Senior Vice President and VP of Operations working as a Project Executive. Icon West also leverages consultants to ensure environmental requirement compliance, as well as a QSP for the storm water prevention program and a professional scheduler to prepare and update the project timeline.

In pre-construction, each team works in their capacity, both individually and collectively, to complete the following tasks:

• Bind subcontractors
• Review their contracts
• Start meetings with major subcontractors

We also prepare the following:

• Submittals and procurement schedules, prioritizing differed and long lead schedules
• Safety and illness prevention program
• Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and file the Notice of Intent
• Specified environmental submittals and all other submittals necessary allow the start of construction

We direct our subcontractors to start early on their submittals and shop drawings while we coordinate with related items, including the underground utilities with the building foundations using BIM modeling. We identify potential issues early on and mitigate them using the design team through RFI process and conferencing. This process will continue throughout the project as needed.
