Our Innovative Tools Deliver Success
Icon West uses advanced technological resources like BIM to deliver a high-end product as the project owner sees fit.
BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a 3D modeling process that enables architects, engineers, and construction professionals to facilitate building construction with efficiency in design. Through 3D visualization, BIM gives key insights for our MEP subcontractors in collision detection or “clash” detection to reduce trade installation conflicts.
This powerful virtual tool portrays accurate and detailed constructability information. We use our BIM services across our many projects to view an “As-Built” condition of the final product throughout the duration of the project. We use top tools such as, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Revit, & Bluebeam in order to deliver a high-quality model.
A key component of overseeing your project’s vision from beginning to end is through visualization. Icon West has a wealth of experience using BIM across our many projects.
We utilize it throughout the construction phase for multi-trade coordination and for error detection, conflict resolution, and cost mitigation.
Our BIM Manager coordinates with all concerned parties for the delivery of BIM Level of Development (LOD) 400 and 500. We aim to generate a virtual version of the building ahead of time, from the Owner’s provided files to guide our team during the construction period. All concerned Subcontractors will prepare 3D Shop Drawings, depending on the trade, in either Revit, CAD, or Tekla format which we will then integrate together through Navisworks to identify any conflicts, especially with respect to MEP, Structural, and Underground Utility elements. We then explore appropriate resolutions to address the problem, in coordination with the Owner and Architect.
Once we have a clear visualization, we host periodic BIM coordination meetings with the necessary trades and maintain the model to reflect the most recent RFI’s. We share this file with our Subcontractors so that they can coordinate and plan their respective work to ensure a smooth installation. The BIM process enables Icon West to present plans, design, infrastructure, and more through advanced visualization with the 3D model. At the end of the project, we will submit the As-Built conditions at LOD 500 to document essential materials, equipment/devices installed on site along with the complete asset description for the Owner’s future maintenance work.
