X

HIGHLIGHTS: Icon West also worked with a team of our subcontractors and the University on designing a shoring system that would add 1 extra 3500 sqft underground level and included jet grouting and underpinning piles.
CLIENT: Regents of California, Los Angeles.
ARCHITECT: Stenfors S/A Associates Architects
DESCRIPTION: This project includes Seismic renovation to correct structural deficiencies and to upgrade the three story and basement building seismically from “poor” to “good” (DSA Level 3). The renovations will also upgrade and replace mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety systems and make repairs to building shell and site. The renovated building will include a change in occupancy from student residences to academic and administrative offices.
Demolition, restoration, and reuse in new construction of almost all the building’s exposed structure and finishes including wood frames, ceiling, clay roofs, stone facades and pavers, doors, windows, hardware and light fixtures. Constructed in 1931, the building is eligible for listing on the California Register for Historical Resources. All new construction and additions should be identical to the existing in quality and esthetics.
