DESCRIPTION: Icon West’s project at Southwest Technical Education Center consisted of the modernization and refurbishment of a 40k sq. ft. Technical Education Building, (fully occupied), and extensive repairs to the water damage in the interior & exterior of the building. Our project scope also included the installation of a new roof system, fire alarm system replacement and interior modernization of all administrative office space, classrooms, conference rooms and computer labs. The building was also upgraded with the latest technology systems including Smart Boards, media projection systems and computer network systems. During the course of construction our team was faced with several logistical issues that created construction challenges. Phasing was the primary issue. Careful consideration had to be given to each floor to coordinate around the occupancy of students and staff. Construction began on the third floor and slowly transitioned to lower floors by relocating students at the completion of each phase. As a result, Icon West was able to successfully complete the project without delays and without incident.
