Details

The project scope included the construction of a new indoor basketball court with folding backstops, retractable seating, a raised platform stage, lockers and shower rooms, coach offices, and finally stairs and elevators that lead to classrooms with state-of-the-art technology. The building was fully air-conditioned and equipped with a new soundproof roof system and automatic fire sprinkler system.

Teamwork

This project began with a unique challenge: a dispute between the owners and the Department of Water and Power led to a significant delay to construction start. Despite this, Icon West was able to create and implement an accelerated schedule to overcome the initial delays and deliver the project on the originally scheduled date. Additionally, the Icon West team was able to apply value engineering skills to achieve substantial savings on the project while also completing it with the fewest number of change order requests on a k-measure project.
